HOLISTIC ORTHOPEDIC CARE
The
Muscle Treatment Clinic
Our survival depends on our muscles. The over 600 muscles in our body support our most important body systems; mobility, circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems to name a few.
At Life Medical Center, under the orthopedic leadership of Dr. Robert Śmigielski, Dr Daniel Kopko and under the physio therapy leadership of Dariusz Straszewski and Marcin Plenzler our interdisciplinary medical and physiotherapy team focus on skeletal muscle health. Skeletal muscles are connected to your bones by tissues called tendons. These muscles are responsible for mobility, stability and posture.

The Muscle Treatment Clinic specializes in in-depth diagnostics, a range of conservative treatments, including Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, and nutrition /diet therapy.
There are situations however, where conservative treatments are not enough, where sever muscle tears require more advanced procedures including a surgically sutured muscle repair.
Our holistic approach
Our tailored, patient centric approach, delivers you an individualized treatment plan. We approach your health holistically, looking at your complete health status, orthopedic and beyond, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your situation and needs. Key is to identify and understand both the causes and effects of your muscular skeletal problems, to deliver for you the optimal treatment plan, whether recovering from an injury or improving overall muscle health.
We have earned the trust of leading athletes, including Olympic gold medalists, who appreciate our approach and commitment in partnering with them to help them achieve peak fitness and performance levels.

Muscle injuries in Athletes
Muscle lesions (or strains) are the most common category of injuries in athletes and comprise approximately 10% to 55% of all injuries. The majority of muscle injuries (>90%) are contusions (bruises) or strains, while lacerations (deep cut or tear) are much less common.
These injuries can be debilitating for athletes, which could setbacks to their careers.
It is important to differentiate a muscle strain from a sprain. A strain is a tear of a muscle (muscle fibres), also often referred to as a pulled muscle. A sprain is an injury to a ligament (which joins bone to bone).
Muscle strain can be a result of acute or chronic injury.
• Acute meaning a sudden injury e.g. when someone falls.
• Chronic muscle pain results from overuse of one area which develops over time.
